October 5, 2013- Luray, Virginia- Inside Luray Caverns, Dream Lake creates the illusion of an underground city.
This is the largest body of water in the caverns. However, its deepest point is not more than 18 to 20 inches. This sparkling lake reflects a myriad of fantastic forms and creates a mirror image of the abundant stalactites hanging from the ceiling.. Since it's discovery in 1878 by a tinsmith and a local photographer, visitors by the millions have made Luray Caverns the most popular cave in Eastern America.
4,000,000 centuries in the making beneath Virginia’s storied Shenandoah Valley, the surrounding stalactite formations cover more than three acres.
